13 Fishing Origin TX Baitcast Reel | Tournament-Grade Precision
The Origin TX represents our most refined baitcasting platform, engineered for anglers who demand tournament-grade performance without compromise. We built this reel around our TX carbon braking system, which delivers ultra-precise cast control through micro-adjustable magnetic resistance.
The EVOLVE D4 dual-supported gear system provides unmatched power transfer under heavy loads, while our Mega Drag system produces 20 pounds of smooth stopping force. Whether you’re flipping heavy cover or launching long casts with reaction baits, the Origin TX gives you complete control from first cast to final hookset.

TX Carbon Braking System Technology
The 13 Fishing Origin TX introduces our most advanced braking technology to date. The TX carbon system uses precision-tuned magnetic fields to create ultra-smooth, adjustable resistance throughout your entire cast.
Unlike traditional centrifugal brakes that engage abruptly, our carbon brake system provides progressive resistance that adapts to your casting stroke. The external 8-position dial lets you fine-tune brake pressure on the fly, perfect for adapting to changing wind conditions or switching between lure weights. You’ll experience fewer backlashes and longer, more accurate casts right out of the box.

EVOLVE D4 Gearing and Drag Performance
At the heart of the Origin TX sits our proprietary EVOLVE D4 dual-supported drive gear system. We machine these gears from high-grade brass alloy, then support both sides of the drive gear to eliminate flex and wobble under heavy load.
The result is immediate power transfer when you set the hook, plus smooth consistent retrieve throughout the entire crank cycle. Our 6.6:1 gear ratio provides 26 inches of line retrieval per handle turn, making it versatile enough for everything from crankbaits to jigs.
Construction and Bearing System
Frame and Spool Design
We constructed the Origin TX frame from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, which provides exceptional rigidity at minimal weight. The one-piece frame design eliminates flex points that cause binding and noise.
The anodized aluminum spool features our signature star drag pattern for improved line management and reduced weight. Precision-balanced spool rotation minimizes vibration, even at high retrieve speeds.

Common questions about the Origin TX baitcast reel
The Origin TX comes in a 6.6:1 gear ratio, which retrieves 26 inches of line per handle turn. This moderate speed ratio is extremely versatile, working well for moving baits like spinnerbaits and chatterbaits while still providing enough torque for heavy jigs and deep-diving crankbaits.
The 6.6:1 ratio balances speed and power, making it ideal for anglers who use one reel across multiple techniques. If you prefer ultra-fast retrieves for topwater or burning reaction baits, consider our Concept Z series with high-speed ratios up to 8.3:1.
The TX carbon brake features an external 8-position adjustment dial on the side plate opposite the handle. Start with the dial set to position 6 or 7 for your first casts, then gradually decrease the setting as you develop feel for the reel’s casting performance.
Higher numbers provide more brake pressure, which helps prevent backlashes with heavier lures or in windy conditions. Lower settings allow longer casts with lighter baits. Unlike internal brakes, you can adjust the TX system on the water without opening the side plate.
Yes, we designed the Origin TX with our IVCB-6L corrosion-resistant bearing system specifically rated for saltwater environments. The sealed bearings feature internal barriers that prevent salt intrusion, while the anodized aluminum frame resists corrosion.
For maximum longevity in saltwater, rinse the reel with fresh water after each use and apply a light coat of reel oil to external metal surfaces monthly. With proper care, the Origin TX delivers reliable performance for both inshore and nearshore saltwater applications.
The Mega Drag system on the 13 Fishing Origin TX provides up to 20 pounds of maximum drag pressure. The system uses oversized ceramic drag washers that maintain consistent, smooth pressure throughout the drag range without stacking or jerking.
This drag capacity is more than sufficient for bass, walleye, redfish, and similarly sized gamefish. The ceramic washers resist heat buildup during extended fights, ensuring the same performance on long runs as short battles.
Absolutely. The Origin TX spool design works excellent with braided line, fluorocarbon, and monofilament. We recommend using backing tape or monofilament backing when spooling braid to prevent slippage on the aluminum spool.
The ceramic line guide and roller bearing handle braid’s abrasive properties without premature wear. Many tournament anglers run 30-50 lb braided line on their Origin TX reels for flipping and frogging applications with zero issues.
Each Origin TX includes the fully assembled reel, protective neoprene reel cover, owner’s manual with maintenance guidelines, and our 1-year manufacturer warranty. The reel ships pre-lubricated and ready to spool with line.
We also include a spare drag clicker spring and detailed brake adjustment guide to help you dial in optimal casting performance. Additional service parts and upgrade kits are available through our parts department.
The Origin TX features our newer TX carbon magnetic braking system, while the Origin C uses traditional 6-pin centrifugal brakes. The TX brake system offers easier external adjustment and more progressive cast control, especially for beginners.
Both reels share the same EVOLVE D4 gearing and Mega Drag system, so power and durability are identical. The TX model adds $30 to the price but provides significantly improved casting performance and user-friendly brake adjustment. For experienced anglers who prefer centrifugal brakes, the Origin C remains an excellent choice.
